“Come be cultured”

In April 2023, Keeping News Local had the good fortune to be invited to a premiere screening of the short film, “Sorrowland” and through that came to not only write about “Sorrowland” itself, but about the exceptionally talented Beatrice McBride, who after battling obstacles that may have left some despondent about life, Beatrice fought on in her journey to becoming an Actress, singer and as it turns out, an artist.

In a joint exhibition with Patricia Ford, Beatrice shall be showcasing their work at the Tiliqua Tiliqua gallery from the 25th – 28th JULY 2024.

Under the title of “Women’s work” and the call out “Come be cultured”, they have described their work as exploring the experiece of women and celebration of the female form through metaphors and traditional women’s crafts.
