Man Arrested in Darwin for Multiple Offences

Northern Territory Police have arrested and charged a man in relation to multiple offences in Darwin last week.
On Thursday 24 October 2024, members from Strike Force Lyra arrested a 39-year-old man in Pinelands for domestic violence related offences. During the arrest, police observed drug related paraphernalia at the location and sought a search warrant.
As a result of the search warrant, police located and seized a pistol, ammunition, and other prohibited weapons. Police located varying quantities of illicit drugs, and identified evidence of drug supply as well as cash, jewellery and items believed to be property obtained in commission of an offence.
The man was later charged with the following 18 offences relating to Domestic Violence, Firearms, Misuse of Drugs, Weapons Control, and other offences:
– 3 x Engage in Conduct that Contravenes DVO
– Supply Schedule 1 Drug less than commercial
– Possess Schedule 1 Drug traffickable quantity
– Possess Schedule 1 Drug less than traffickable quantity
– Possess Schedule 2 Drug traffickable quantity
– Possess Schedule 2 Drug less than traffickable quantity
– Unauthorised Possession Schedule 4 substance
– Possess tainted property
– Possess a thing to administer dangerous Drug
– Possess / Use Firearm while unlicenced
– Possess Unregistered Firearm
– Fail to meet storage requirements
– Possess firearm with altered ID marks
– Possess ammunition without permit/licence
– Possess use or carry a prohibited weapon
– Unlawfully possess property
The man was remanded and appeared Darwin Local Court on Friday 25 October.
Detective Acting Sergeant Katherine Lumsden said, “Strike Force Lyra is committed to bringing domestic violence perpetrators before the courts.
“This investigation led to a seizure of illicit substances and a firearm. The removal of unlawful firearms and illicit drugs from the hands of offenders is always a priority for NT Police.”
